Where the tertiary work and the fastest employers are.
Riyadh carries the Kingdom's heaviest concentration of specialised and tertiary capacity: medical cities, referral centres, and the private groups expanding fastest against Vision 2030 targets. For a European consultant it is the market with the most complex caseload and the shortest decision cycles.
Public sector posts run through the health clusters, whose talent acquisition sits above the individual hospital. Private groups hire directly and considerably faster — weeks rather than quarters — and negotiate scope, clinic time and on-call structure rather than handing over a fixed grade.
Both routes want the same evidence: your specialty certificate, the years completed after it, current registration and good standing, and for procedural specialties the case volumes you can actually document.
Riyadh is dry rather than humid, and the infrastructure is the Kingdom's most developed — the metro now runs across multiple lines, international schooling is established, and the residential districts used by professional families are well served. It is the easiest Saudi city for a European family arriving with children, which is why most first moves land here.
